Instructor Megan Archer

As an instructor, I have been teaching the children’s ceramic classes for almost three years. I was born and raised in the South Bend/Mishawaka area and graduated from Marian High School and Saint Mary’s College. During my sophomore year in college, I took a ceramics class and fell in love with the medium. Now, my creative interests revolve around the world of 3-dimensional manipulation of clay and other materials. My artistic style has expanded since working at the SBMA with my new relationships with other artists. My inspiration comes from the natural world, most specifically the ocean and underwater world and dinosaurs, fossils, and ancient artifacts.  When I am not at the museum, I enjoy reading, knitting, and spending time with my family.  As a result, I created my own small business of selling pottery and knitted stuffed animals, more specifically small dinosaurs and blankets as well.  But most of all, I enjoy making pottery on the wheel and handbuilding with the kids, instructors and students in the studio at the SBMA.
